The GSimpleRelease app is designed to streamline the image acquisition process and facilitate the creation of focus brackets. These brackets can subsequently be utilized with software such as Helicon Focus to generate images with near-infinite focus, making it an excellent choice for macro photography enthusiasts.

It is important to note that Lumix cameras need to have WiFi capabilities and must support manual focus through the Panasonic Image App.

User Guide:

Connecting to the Network:

  • Prior to using the app, ensure that your Lumix camera is connected to the Image App. Check the WiFi Menu of your Lumix for entries in the “Select a destination from History” menu.
  • Select the appropriate network and launch the GSimpleRelease app. The splash screen will indicate which network the app is attempting to connect to.
  • You may open the WiFi Manager on your iOS device to change networks if necessary.

Using the Release Tab:

  • This tab serves as a simplified remote shutter control; press the button to capture an image.

Using the Focus Stack Tab:

  • This tab assists users in creating focus brackets for subsequent focus stacking. Please note that additional software is necessary for the actual stacking process.
  • Switch your camera to Manual Focus, as this function will not operate in other focus modes. The on-screen indicator will help you verify your current mode.
  • The procedure involves setting the starting focus point, typically at the nearest part of the object, and using focus buttons to determine the endpoint, usually located behind the object. Both start and end focus points must be defined for proper functionality.

The Button Functions (Top to Bottom):

  • Focus Buttons: The four buttons below are utilized to adjust focus. The left two buttons control near focus, while the right two buttons manage far focus, allowing for adjustments in both large (outer button) or small increments (inner button).
  • Set Start / Set End Focus: Once you have set your desired positions, press either of these buttons to confirm.
  • Step Width Adjustment: The left wheel allows you to choose step width. Selecting 'Q' activates quick mode for rapid focus changes. In '1', an image will be captured after each focus adjustment. In '2', two adjustments will be made before capturing an image.
  • Delay Setting: The right wheel facilitates setting a delay between each shot.

Starting Focus Bracket:

  • Simply press the green button to initiate focus bracketing. To cancel, press the now red button and await completion confirmation, which will also indicate how many images were captured.
